Summary:
It's appropriate that this earnest, young quartet of rockers is signed to the label that squired Creed to multiplatinum superstardom. Like Creed, 12 Stones deliver accessible, middle-of-the-road, postgrunge rock throughout their formulaic debut. Having emerged from the small burg of Mandeville, Louisiana, they serve up songs that tap (albeit at times tritely) into the self-doubt and romantic woes of post-Ritalin teens ("Patiently waiting by the phone / Hoping that you will call me home"). The songs, though, are honest and deeply felt, especially when singer Paul McCoy summons a metallic growl and Eric Weaver's sinuous guitar yields memorable melodies and acute solos. The menacing drums and agitation of "My Life" make it a highlight; ditto the speedy, edgy rocker "Eric's Song" and the passionate "Soulfire." --Katherine Turman

12 Stones is truly a talented band and their music definitely has depth to it. I recommend this CD to those who love music that blends heavy metal rock and alternative.

When I hear a c.d. the first time and you love it , I think I will be burned out in a month or two but not with this c.d., I can not take it out of rotation. The other c.d. by 12 stones is just as good.
Outstanding in every way.

Great First Effort

I was greatly impressed by the musicianship of the band. Paul McCoy has a great voice going from soft to screaming (and he can wail). The axe work is tremendous Eric Weaver understands when to go from clean and soft to hard and heavy and helps accentuate the underlying emotions of the songs. Kevin Dorr isn't just another of those thumping bass players and adds bass "melody" (for lack of a better word) to each song. Aaron Gainer pounds the skins into submission and adds that necessary rhythm element. I will definetly buy there next CD "Potter's Field".

The problem here is I've heard it before...

I bought this album for 'Broken' which is a great song. The problem I have with the rest of the album is that it's nothing special, it's nothing great, nothing that makes me want to take the effort to sort through my CD case to find the CD and put it in the player. Every song is generic, even 'Broken' is a bit plain but I just really like that song. The chorus's are just single words repeated over and over and thats annoying as all get out. The reviewer for Amazon said the lyrics were heartfelf and deep but I found this album to be the complete opposite EXCEPT FOR 'Running out of Pain' which I feel is a beautiful and heart touching song and I just wish that the rest of the album was worth gracing the same album as that one song. Anyways, thats just my humble opinion. I was dissapointed and it's made me bitter...

Good Commercial Rock
Customer Rating: Score = 4Score = 4Score = 4Score = 4Score = 4
12 Stones first cd is actually pretty good. That is considering its pretty commercial. There really isn't anything that groundbreaking here with this release. With that fact, by no means, makes the music bad. It's actually quite good. Pretty much every song on this cd is good. I don't really remember how I discovered this album but I do remember the song that made me want to hear more. "Fade Away". I loved that song instantly. Still love it. Most of the songs on this cd you're going to love. Despite all this good, if there is one thing that I can say is wrong with it, it would be that it can be overplayed. It's catchy and the songs are very good but you can get sick them pretty easily after frequent listening. So try not to listen over and over again. Anyway, here are my song ratings...

1. Crash - 10/10
2. Broken - 10/10
3. The Way I Feel - 10/10
4. Open Your Eyes - 9.5/10
5. Home - 8/10
6. Fade Away - 10/10
7. Back Up - 9/10
8. Soulfire - 9/10
9. In My Head - 9/10
10. Running Out of Pain - 7/10
11. My Life - 8/10
12. Eric's Song - 8/10

Overall: 89% B+

12 Stone's album is a nice piece of modern rock and is truly a great addition to anyones collection. Anyone who likes modern rock with a Creed-like style should check this out. They also should check out another cool band known as doubleDrive with a similar style.
