Summary:
2Pac's been dead for more than six years, and in that time his estate has released a dizzying array of questionable posthumous material--with much more to come in 2003, by the way (the liner notes list documentary soundtracks, another unreleased double album, DVDs, etc.). On the first disc's "Intro," an unnamed street reporter wonders, "Where are these songs coming from?" After repeated listens, your best guess would be from his unfinished studio outtakes. Nevertheless, these tracks were apparently recorded during his prolific, vexed Makaveli stage. "When We Ride on Our Enemies" demonstrates much vitriol, as Pac's verses are littered with fightin' words for rappers like Mobb Deep and Da Brat. Likewise, "F*** 'Em All" hurls threats at the late Notorious B.I.G., reminding fans of the time when media-induced East Coast-West Coast feuds were way out of control. The ghetto Elvis's tales of slum grandeur reach their zenith when he serves up his explicit boasts to women on "Fair Xchange." Gripping.

It's too bad the first disc's last track, an acoustic version of "Thugz Mansion," undermines much of the credibility of this project. When Pac's alleged enemy Nas's vocals are mixed in to appear like he's sitting next to Pac by a fireplace all warm and toasty, sharing rhymes, you immediately smell the influence of executive producer Suge Knight. The second disc is just as dodgy, but might resonate more with new fans simply wanting to hear good beats and rhymes. "Never Call U B**** Again" is a tidy love song that R&B crooner Tyrese complements well, while the title track featuring Ronald "Mr. Biggs" Isley provides a necessary escape from much of Pac's brooding imagery. In the end, the quandary of this double disc has nothing to with Pac but with producer Johnny "J"'s middling G-funk-lite beats and Suge Knight's involvement. This one's for collectors and curious onlookers. --Dalton Higgins

Disc 2 is a Classix own it's own

I remember when me and my homeboy listened to this when it came out 2002, this album is off the chain. The 1st disc is ok, but the 2nd disc is as good as any 2pac album made since he was alive or dead. Never Call u B. Again, U Can Call, Better Dayz, Fame, Who do u Believe In, are classics and thats why some of them are on the new 2pac greatest hits album released in 2007.

Stop producin Pac's Mom! Better Dayz, indeed does need better production.

Still Ballin? - With Trick Daddy(Im from the 305 myself and the song is good but WTF?) My favorite is they don't give a F*** about Us", and some others, cd is good but not great, anytime you re-make the songs instead of the original you lose the appeal of the songs, stop producing pac's Mama! and stop doing collabos with whack rappers! and R&B.

Better Dayz - Tupac

Tupac's voice was silenced way too soon. I'm just beginning to appreciate this kind of music and am actually surprised that not only do I hear and understand the lyrics, but I am REALLY getting in to the BEAT! The man was a talent and while what Tupac says can be a bit colorful, you can not deny that he speaks with his heart.

The last good posthumous album from Pac

Even though I felt like Until The End Of Time was his best posthumous album Im still feeling this one though. Standout tracks on disc1: STILL BALLIN, WHEN WE RIDE ON OUR ENEMIES, CHANGED MAN, NEVER B PEACE, MAMA'S JUST A LITTLE GIRL, STREET FAME, LATE NIGHT, GHETTO STAR, THUGZ MANSION(Nas version) etc. Filler on disc 1: none. Standout tracks on disc 2:THUGZ MANSION, BETTER DAYZ, U CAN CALL, MILITARY MINDS, FAME, CATCHING FEELINGS, THERE U GO(humorous), THIS LIFE I LEAD, WHO DO YOU BELIEVE IN and THEY DONT GIVE A F*** ABOUT US. Filler on disc2: Fair Exchange remix. Bottom Line: this is the last good album that they put out of Tupac's before his memory and his music got destroyed by the likes of Suge Knight and Eminem. There are some solid gems on here like Mama's Just A Little Girl, They Dont Give A F*** About Us, Never B Peace, Thugz Mansion etc that you are not going to hear from the assortment of clones, floozies, and morons we have in the game right now. Its a highlight album that was Way better than a lot of those other albums that came out that year.
